2023 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE PROGRAM

ENROLLMENT BEGINS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2023

Due to unusually high call volume because of the Uniform Allowance Program, hold time and callback time may be longer than normal.

Your Sergeants Benevolent Association is now making $980 in tax-free Uniform Allowance payments available. Based on current tax law and in agreement with the City of New York, dues-paying union members may qualify to have their annual dues payments offset the taxes associated with the Uniform Allowance. Dues-paying union members will now be entitled to the entirety of the $980 with no deductions. This check will now be issued by the SBA, not the City of New York.

To receive the tax-free uniform allowance check, Sergeants must log onto the SBA website and complete an electronic form which can be digitally signed and submitted to the SBA. The SBA will maintain a database of all the completed forms.

Forms must be completed online and received at the SBA no later than December 1, 2023. The Uniform Allowance checks will be mailed to your residence of record with the union in mid-December when the uniform check has historically been paid.
